Planning on the table layout and initial setup? Our new sample this week is the first three pages of the TW Axis OB. This includes the Map Layout and References, Theaters and Commands, Preparing for Play, Corp HQ Markers and the first page of the Available Breakdown and Assembly Components. This will be the standard format for coming games and includes the layout for Turning Point maps 107-112 and how they will fit with Total War.

Players will note that this new format was specifically designed to allow games to more easily work together and allow transfers between commands. The Breakdown and Assembly Components page shows a good selection of the breakdown counters for the Axis divisions. Before you call, the BG component counters for the Pz XXs are balanced Battle Groups (Kampfgruppe).

You can download it here.

Looking at the TEC only full and partial cities have any efferct on combat?
Or did I just miss it?

  2. Greg Sarnecki says:

At last, German Pz XXs breakdown into self-supported KG, just like Guderian intended. Do Pz XX’s now have 3 pts of lt AA, given each KG has 1 pt?

  3. G Caygill says:

The deployment restirctions example in section 5.6B doesn’t make sense to me, you’ve restricted a unit out of hexrow 50 which is in its deployment range in the first part of the sentence – or am I missing something?

Kudos for fixing the unit breakdown – this always struck me as wrong; the XX counted as 3 RE of armour, the breakdowns only had one.

    Answers to:

Mr. Perri – movement/combat effects of full/partial (great/major) city hexes are covered on page 2 (back) of TEC. Other terrain types are covered on page 1 (front) of TEC. All other cities/towns are features and covered under feature section of TEC on page 2 (back): dot (medium) cities = No AEC. Reference (small) cities and towns = no effect.

Mr. Sarnecki – Re German Pz XXs, each XX has 2 pts of AA, each of the 3 BG breakdowns for each XX thus has 2/3s of 1 pt which rounds to 1 pt on counter.

Mr. Caygill – Good catch! I’ve fixed this in master to read: Example: Units of a group with a deployment range of 103:4828 (N) to 103:5028 (S) to 103:4930 (W) cannot deploy in hexes north of the 103:48xx hexrow, south of the 103:50xx hexrow, or west of the 103:xx30 hex column

  5. Lo Pan says:

First: I hope Arthur continues to make healthy choices and make progress. How is it going bro?

Second: Four days until printing slot! What are the chances this this going to happen … or is it time to put the maps away for now and use the table for something else?

  6. anthony Perri says:

    Thank you Arthur!
    I just missed it.
    Speedy FULL recovery

  7. mark says:

its printing day is it happening? Should I start to clear the table?

  8. Paul Berenguer says:

Okay, so its May 22. Did the printer start the job today? Update would be appreciated.

  9. Mike says:

Can we get refunds on the preorder? Anymore delays I think that may be the way to go for me.

  10. Nick Law says:

    Paul,

Gar posted this on Yahoo on 22nd May:

“We talked at length to our printers both last week and today and
together we have fixed another print date (start) of June 12th. They
can not do the 22nd (today) and we were not entirely ready. This makes
no one happy, though once again, we will save some cost.

“The printers are staying with their estimate of 5-7 days to complete
printing and we should begin shipping on or before the 20th of June. We
will ship in the sequence that the order was taken. If the print shop
has breaks in their sub-contracting, we will have material ready for
them but we cannot ship until all of it is done.

“We’ll continue to post samples on the web site as soon as Mitch is back
from vacation. The next sample will again be from the Axis OB and will
give you an idea of the conditional options and scenarios.”

  11. William Dalzell says:

Better late than never, and better getting it right now than having to fix things later. Just keep feeding us the TW tidbits to keep us hungry for more. And besides, doesn’t the date of June 22nd have a nice ring to it for a shipping date?

  12. Graham Caygill says:

The OB info and ratings will be fascinating given how much research has gone on in the intervening time since DNO – FiTE all started
