Total War is the first in our series of games covering the Soviet Great Patriotic War. This game is an extensive remake of the GDW game Fire in the East with new information on the maps and Orders of Battle from the Soviet archives and new sources. It will cover the western Soviet Union from June, 1941 to March, 1942. Pre-publication orders for the game will include the OB and counters for the Soviet Army in the west from September 1939 to March 1942 for later use in Grand Europa modules.

We are still accepting pre-pub orders for Total War for $195 US. pre-publication orders will include the extended Soviet OBs from 1939 to 1942 as part of the pre-publication offer. These extended OBs will not be included in the standard publication offering. Earlier pre-pub orders at the initial special price will be honored. Remember that there are additional shipping costs for non-Europa Association members and anyone overseas (regardless of membership).

HMS/GRD Pre-Publication Plan August 2009

HMS/GRD uses the money raised in pre-publication sales to finance the printing of the game. Since the printers for the various components usually like their money up front, this means that pre-publication offers must be made in advance of when the game is ready for the printers. Keeping this in mind, the following is the planned policy for games following Total War.

1. HMS/GRD will offer a game to pre-publication when it enters the general playtest phase. This phase does not start until the rules, OBs, counters, and maps are in a stable version.

2. When the general playtest begins, HMS/GRD will publish an estimated schedule. This date is when we believe everything concerned with the game will go to the printers but it is only an estimate and may be revised as the work proceeds. During the playtesting, we will evaluate how many copies to print based on the pre-publication sales. In many cases, HMS/GRD already
has a target number of copies (needed to set the costs of the game), but this could change if the pre-publication sales numbers warrant it.

3. The pre-publication price will often be at a 20% discount from the release price. This price will be good from the start of the pre-publication offer to the actual shipping of the game. The cost of shipping will also be added to the price except for US members of the Europa Association (who have free shipping as one of their benefits). Europa Association members do not receive
an additional 10% discount off of this price. HMS/GRD will collect the pre-publication price plus shipping at the time of the pre-publication order. At any time to the actual shipping of the game, a purchaser may request a refund for any reason. We will then refund the purchaser’s cost by check.

    Hi

With regards to Total War, when will the game be issued? Ever since you contacted me last October 2011 have been waiting for its arrival, I know there have been some problems but that not new for many war games.

I would like to know as for most of September and October I will be away from my home, here in Ottawa, Canada.

    Cheers,
