HMS News – 20 February 2013

We are at about 50% of our goal of raising the money needed to ship ALL copies of the Total War pre-pub. At current rate of fire sale this means we should reach 100% about the end of March. We have arranged the printing of the remaining components for Total War so as to make everything come together also around the end of March. The first of the remaining components just went in to the printer and the rest will go to the printer on a staggered schedule between now and the middle of March.

Some good news on the box front. Indviduals have agreed to accept just over 200 copies in plain white boxes and this count continues to grow a few each day. We have also found a printer that can deliver (relatively) inexpensive color lay-in sheets for the white boxes (11×14 full color on glossy 32 lb paper, one for front, one for back, showing same as on original printed box, held in place against box by the shrinkwrap, can be glued in place permanently by customer if desired)- we are testing this out now with a order for color lay-ins for the War of Resistance white box, and if quality is satisfactory, all the Total War plain white boxes will have color lay-in sheets front and back of box.

Wavell’s War is now sold out. We still have two copies of Balkan Front, however. War of Resistance is down to 46 copies (cannot make any more after that as the G1 countersheet is then used up, all the rules/OBs/charts are expended, and 7 of the 19 mapsections are gone.) We’ve also updated the fire sale to add a few items to the Game Parts page (G2-G7 countersheets and maps for War of Resistance, a new marker sheet bundle deal, etc.).

For the current and final version of the Fire Sale see the HMSFireSaleFinal link under the HMS News – July 18, 20

You’ve got me spoiled. Any updates?

I got my counters yesterday for Total War and they are very nicely done. They have real good color. Also ordered some other items from the fire sale and all products were in great condition with no concerns. Thank you very much Arthur and Gar. I had lost my faith in this endevour a long time ago. Now I have some excitement and truly believe they will deliever as promised.

Brief Status Update: We’re now at 72% of goal of amassing money needed to ship ALL copies of the Total War pre-pub.

The first attempt at printing color lay-in sheets for the War of Resistance (WOR) box was a bust due to some file issues between us and printer – now resolved – second try should be back end of week. If WOR color lay-ins work out we’ll be adding similar color to the other whitebox games as well (including the plain white box copies of Total War).

Fire sale is still moving along well. The blank die-cut countersheets are now sold out (but we still have the blank hexsheets – both 1/2″ and 3/4″ versions). War of Resistance is down to 38 copies.

  4. Phil says:

thanks! Looking forward to the game!!

  5. Dan says:

Just bought First to Fight. Took about 4 days to get here including weekend. Quite a deal, I encourage everyone to purchace a game or 10 for the cause. The plain white box turned out to be kinda nice because it holds the whole game including all counters in a counter tray (the same trays you can get thru HMS/GRD) something the regular boxes won’t do. Also the color copy maps are of very excellent quality, heavier than regular map paper. I am very happy with my purchase. Thanks Art, Garth and anyone else involved.

  6. Bob says:

It has been a month since the last update. Any news please? Thanks.

  7. Phil says:

    Update? Please

  8. Lo Pan says:

Received the blank map sheets late last week.
I appreciate all your efforts – Arthur, Gar, et al.
    Waiting patiently.
    Thanks so much.

  9. chris Lundvall says:

    What’s happening? Any updates available?

  10. Stephen says:

Seriously overdue for an update gentlemen.

  11. steve miller says:

OK. I guess I’ll join the growing chorus of those asking for an update. Its been 50 days since the last one. During that period, the remaining TW items were to have gone off for printing/printing, coalation was to have occured, the the games were to have gone in the mail, but we’re heard nothing of any progress. Well?????

  12. Rick Lamb says:

I’m starting to get that sad, nervous feeling again like I did years back when I first sent in my TW money and it was all quiet until it was suddenly no more.

  13. ArthurGoodwin says:

IRT Dan and Lo Pan: I’m glad you liked the items you got from us. Your kind comments are greatly appreciated by both Gar and myself.

RE an Update: The situation here at HMS meant an update could not be posted until it had been cleared with our investors (which happened last night). See the 16Apr17 entry regarding the update.

IRT Rick Lamb: I’m sorry that the delay in releasing Total War is causing you worry. We are trying hard to get the game out, and have overcome a lot of problems to do so. This most recent one is decidedly minor compared to the fire. We just have to accumulate the money needed to ship the game. This is not a matter of if, but of when. The Fire Sale should accomplish this sometime in May. If not, we have a couple of other options to raise the money (although we would prefer not to use them because using them will negatively affect future projects). But the bottom line is that Both Gar and I are committed to getting the game out no matter what it takes.
