HMS News – 1 Feb 2013

On February 1, 2013, in News, by ArthurGoodwin

It looks like the Fire Sale brought in 100% of what is needed to finish the printing of Total War sometime yesterday. The Fire Sale, however, will remain open until we also raise the money needed to SHIP the game (for particulars of the sale click on the link at the bottom of the “HMS News – 28 Jan 2013” entry below). I’ll post a more detailed update on Monday morning, after we have time to crunch the numbers in detail and HMS holds a conference call meeting of the board of directors and secured investors. But at this point it sure looks like we’ve cleared the biggest of the remaining hurdles in getting the game out. Our thanks to everyone who helped by participating in the fire sale!

Yahoo! Can I pay for my own postage? I’ll get a check right out to you!

  2. ArthurGoodwin says:

IRT Phil: Thank you for the generous offer. However, we are raising the money needed to ship the game. It may take a few weeks, but I don’t think there will be any need for anyone to pay (again) to have their game shipped to them. You already paid for the shipping once, so I, for one, am extremely uncomfortable taking payment
for the same thing twice. But thanks for the offer.

  3. Dave says:

Arthur, I think Phil raises a good point. Many of the folks that pre-ordered TW have been waiting years for fulfillment. Why not at least give them the option of re-paying for shipping in order to get their product now….rather than waiting weeks (months?) while you try to raise the money to finance the shipping?

I realize that you uncomfortable taking payment twice for shipping (as you should), but I think you should consider providing the option. Like Phil, I would probably exercise that option, thus insuring that I would receive my game within a predictable timeframe, rather than going through more waiting and uncertainty.

  4. Bob says:

I also wouldn’t mind paying for postage… Perhaps as future credit for the Magazine re-subscription? Of course the tracking of this would add to your overhead too. Not as easy as it sounds. Getting closer. :)

  5. steve miller says:

I’m with Bob. I know I’d pay for postage, especially as a future credit for the Europa magazine re-subscription.

  6. Phil says:

I do like the thought of using it as a future credit.

  7. neil says:

Just to add my two cents….I’ll also pay for shipping, again, if this will permit a timely shipment. In addition, I’ll also take it as a credit toward “Europa” magazine, and or current and future products.

C’mon, I’ll do what it takes to get Total War. We are soooo close.

As another option, you could include a signed, numbered original coupon as a credit voucher. Thus making the purchaser responsible for the accounting.

  8. Tom Crispin says:

With Bob and Dave, I like the idea of paying for the shipping (at least for the original orders), possibly with credit towards magazine subscription

  9. Sammy says:

Do you still have the ‘Second Front’ box? How much is all the available components
(may be part of counters in color copy or PDF) togeher in the box cost?
Let me know please so that I can order together with other Fire Sales items.
    Thanks

  10. ArthurGoodwin says:

IRT Sammy: We sold the last Second Front original box a few days ago. What is still available for Second Front is:
    all four of the original maps (16A, 17A, 26, and 27) = $8 + shipping
eight (of the sixteen) original countersheets (66A/68A/70A-75A) = $26 + shipping
    all of the Rules/OBs/Charts/Errata in a pack = $18 + shipping
We can also provide color PDFs for the 8 sold-out countersheets if you want to make your own counters (these are free with purchase of above components).
