Counter sheet sample and more good news

counter sample

We wanted to share some of the samples we received of the die-cut counters. We’ll send all six of first ones we received over the next few days. The printing is moving along and we will let you know when we receive all of it.

In response to the many questions about the flat maps, we will be continuing the special offer, at least until all the games have been shipped. It appears likely that we will send these flat maps early in the mailing cycle since they are easy to pack and send in the USPS triangular ‘tubes’. The sample maps we have are awesome.

    Looks great.
The blue division is stronger, the norwegian SS formation is just a battalion strong, Dirlewanger is no longer a usefull front formation in its 0-1-6 state.

Aw…the italian corps is no longer “schnelle” corps.

Loved that the eastern troops have been diffirentiated between the Ukranian, Baltic and others.

Looking forward to more glimpses and of course, the finished game:)

You said the sample maps are awesome – I haven’t seen them yet, but the counters look good. However, I have got one burning question to ask HMS/GRD – it seems the strength factors for many of the German Army infantry divisions (and the Waffen-SS too) have been increased by one point, can anyone explain (briefly) the reasoning behind this? John

I also have noticed tha changes to the strengths of German infantry divisions- I am a little worried this may make the other games redundant. The counters and map pieces all look excellent.

    Sample countersheet looks good.

  5. David Smuts says:

what does the white shade on the movement rating (9) on the grey Hungarian air units represent?

  6. Patrick Cloutier says:

Why are the Pasubio and Torino divisions changed from 4-8s (Balkan Front) to 5-6s in Total War? It seems that eliminates any mechanism for increasing the mobility of one at the expense of another, as was done historically. If the 4-8 rating, or a 5-8 rating were in use, one division could be completely motorized by rendering the other a 4-6 or a 5-6. Does Total War have a provision for this? Are there any blank counters on the counter sheets?

  7. James Daniels says:

Patrick, there’s a 2 RE Italian Motor Transport Counter on the counter sheet. My understanding is that it can carry one of the divisions.

  8. Abiding Dude says:

Somewhere i read that the winterization rules were being ditched. As Walter Sobcheck would say, “Am I wrong”?

  9. Ron VanderMolen says:

Abiding Dude, check the upper left of the countersheet, there are German WINTERIZED units, so I doubt the rules on winterization are going away…
    :-)

  10. Tony Chandler says:

I like the treatment of the Hungarians and the Kreigsmarine assault unit. The 2 RE Italian transport unit should be able to lift an entire Italian Infantry division- but I cant imagine it not being borrowed by their allies.
This is an interesting selection- I would love to see the some Russian or German motorized or the Rumanian troops.
I am also fascinated by the 163rd divisions ability to detach a single regiment.

  11. Patrick Cloutier says:

@ James Daniels – thank you for the clarification on Italian motor transport

  12. Thomas Smith says:

Can I get some/final counters? Will pay something if needed.
